‘This is a typical Dutch ‘Delfts blue’ vase. The idea of this painting started when my grandmother moved last summer from her house to a nursing home. As long as I can remember she has Delfts Blue pottery in her home. Some vases moved with her to her new place. The process of seeing my 87 year old grandma move was heartbreaking in some way and made me think of my own roots. That is how the inspiration for this painting was born.’ – Nicolette
